About this job

Order pads let waiting staff write down what a table wants and pass a copy to the kitchen or the cashier. Restaurants and cafes in Singapore use carbonless sets because each sheet makes a copy of the one above, so no carbon paper is needed.

The photo shows a pad of coloured sheets: white on top, then green and yellow beneath. Each sheet has the restaurant's logo and address at the head, a red running number, table and date boxes, numbered lines for items with columns for quantity and amount, and a total at the foot. Running numbers make each docket traceable, and different colours help staff tell which copy goes where. The pad is glued at the top so the sheets tear off cleanly.

NCR, or no carbon required, sets are produced by printing the layout on specially coated paper. The top sheet transfers marks to the one beneath through a coating, so writing pressure produces the copies. Pads are printed, numbered, collated in colour order, padded with glue and trimmed. The numbering is checked for sequence and for gaps, and a sample pad is written on to confirm that copies are legible.

Questions

What did EZ Print print for Nagarathai?

Numbered carbonless order pads for the restaurant Nagarathai. The photo shows an opened pad with a white top sheet over green and yellow copy sheets, a red serial number at the top right, fields for table number and date, ruled item lines with quantity and amount columns, and a total box.

What is NCR paper?

NCR stands for no carbon required. Coated sheets make copies when written on, so a set of top, middle and bottom sheets produces duplicate or triplicate records without carbon paper.

Why number order pads?

Running numbers make each docket unique, so staff can trace orders and spot a missing sheet. Numbers are usually printed in a contrasting colour such as red.

Can carbonless sets be made in different colours?

Yes. Copy sheets come in several colours, commonly white, yellow, pink, blue and green, so each copy can be identified quickly by the people who use it.

Can EZ Print print something similar on a deadline?

Same-day and urgent printing available. Subject to artwork approval, payment, print type and production availability. Timing confirmed per job.
