Tissue packets

Tissue packets, and the wrapper that is the whole product

Nobody chooses a tissue packet for the tissue. The printed film wrapper is the object — it is handed over, carried in a bag for a week and looked at every time it is used, which is more attention than a flyer ever gets.

Custom tissue packet printing in Singapore, in one paragraph

EZ Print produces custom printed tissue packets in Singapore, and has done since 2017. The standard pocket pack holds eight three-ply tissues in a printed film wrapper measuring roughly 90 × 60 mm flat. Artwork is printed on the film in four colours, and the wrapper is sealed around the tissues so the printed face and the reverse are both usable. A white underbase is printed behind any colour that has to stay opaque, because the film is translucent and the tissues show through without it. The opening flap is a fixed feature of the pack and artwork has to work around it rather than across it. Standard turnaround is 7–14 working days, because the wrapper is printed, converted and packed as one production sequence. Express is quoted per job. EZ Print quotes from the specification and does not publish prices.

The specification a tissue pack is quoted from

Pack size, tissue count, artwork and quantity. There are fewer decisions here than in almost anything else on this site, which is why the artwork carries so much of the result. The wrapper face is drawn below at true physical size.

The material

The wrapper, and why it is not paper

There is one material decision on this product and it is already made: the wrapper is a printed film, because it has to keep the tissues dry and survive a week in a bag. What that material means for the artwork is the part worth knowing.

Printed film wrapper

Also sold as poly wrapper, printed film pack, OPP wrapper.

A thin translucent film printed on the inside face and sealed around the tissue block, so the print is protected by the material it is printed on.

Under ink
The film is translucent, so any colour needs a white underbase behind it or the tissues show through and the colour goes pale.
Best for
Retail giveaways, F&B table gifts, event handouts, anything carried for a week rather than read once.
Avoid for
Fine type below about 6 pt, and any design that depends on a precise trim — a wrapper is sealed, not guillotined.
On the schedule
Printed, then converted and sealed around the tissue block as one sequence.

Three-ply tissue

Also sold as pocket tissue, facial tissue, three-ply pocket pack.

The contents. Eight tissues per standard pack, folded to fit the wrapper, and identical between one job and the next.

Under ink
Never printed. Ink on a tissue is neither safe nor durable, and the branding lives entirely on the wrapper.
Best for
Any promotion where the object has to be kept rather than read.
Avoid for
Expecting the tissue itself to carry branding. It does not, and it should not.
On the schedule
Supplied with the pack.

The tissue is a commodity and the wrapper is the product. Every decision worth making on this job is a decision about 90 × 60 mm of printed film. The materials library

The opening flap is a fixed feature of the pack. Artwork does not cross it, because it is torn open — and a logo torn in half is what happens to a design that ignores it.

What can be done to a printed wrapper

A tissue pack has almost no finishing options, and that is worth stating plainly rather than implying otherwise. The wrapper is printed and sealed; there is no lamination pass, no foil, no die-cut shape.

Scroll the table sideways to see every column.

Every operation here is quoted inside the standard window. What changes between a first order and a second is the tooling: a die, a block or a screen is made once and then kept on file with your approved artwork, which is why the reorder of a job carrying one is a different job from the first.

A tissue packet is the only promotional object here that gets used up. It is looked at eight times before it is thrown away, which is eight more than a flyer manages.

Pairings that work

  • A single strong logo on a flat colour with a white underbase behind it. It reads in a hand at half a metre, which is the only viewing distance this product has.
  • Details on the reverse rather than the front. The front is the impression; the reverse is where a phone number or a QR code belongs.
  • A QR code at 20 mm or more with its quiet zone intact. Anything smaller does not scan off a soft, slightly creased film.
  • Artwork designed around the opening flap rather than across it.

Combinations that fail

  • Colour printed on the film with no white underbase. The tissues show through and every colour reads pale and washed out.
  • Fine type under about 6 pt. The wrapper is soft and slightly creased in the hand, and small type disappears into the folds.
  • A logo positioned across the opening flap. It is torn in half the first time the pack is used.
  • A design that depends on a precise edge. A wrapper is sealed rather than trimmed, so the position of the artwork moves by a millimetre or two between packs.

What is fixed, and what is not

Almost everything about a tissue pack is standardised, which is what makes it economical. The artwork is the variable; the format is not.

Standard pocket pack · about 90 × 60 mm
The format. Fits a pocket, a handbag and a table setting.
Eight tissues, three-ply
The standard contents. Other counts exist but change the pack thickness and the wrapper size.
Front face
The impression. One idea, large, on a flat colour.
Reverse face
The details — a name, a number, a QR code, a short line of copy.
Opening flap
A fixed feature. Artwork works around it and never across it.
Carton packing
Packed in a stated count per carton for distribution.

Small, translucent, and creased in the hand

Three properties of this product decide everything about its artwork: the print area is tiny, the material is translucent, and the finished object is soft. Design for all three and a tissue pack works harder than almost any other giveaway.

The file

Format
PDF/X-4 at 90 × 60 mm plus 3 mm bleed, front and reverse as two single pages.
Safe margin
6 mm from every edge, and clear of the opening flap.
WHITE layer
100% K vector on a layer named WHITE, under any colour that must stay opaque.
Minimum type
6 pt. Below that the crease in a soft wrapper swallows it.
QR codes
20 mm minimum with the quiet zone intact.
Tolerance
Allow a millimetre or two of movement. A wrapper is sealed rather than guillotined.

The colour, and the detail

Colour mode
CMYK, with named Pantone references for any brand colour that must be consistent across runs.
Underbase
Everything except deliberate transparency sits on a white underbase.
Flat colour
A single flat brand colour reads better than a gradient at this size and on this material.
Rich black
Avoid heavy four-colour blacks. On thin film they show through to the reverse.
Contrast
Keep type and background at least three steps apart in value — the wrapper is shiny and catches light.
Images
300 dpi at final size. At 90 mm wide there is no room for anything softer.

Send the front and the reverse as two pages and say which is which. On a pack this small the two faces do genuinely different jobs, and getting them the wrong way round is not obvious until they arrive.

Turnaround

A production sequence rather than a print job

  • Standard

Standard turnaround is 7–14 working days.

Standard orders. The schedule for specialist finishing is confirmed in your quotation.

  • Express

    Same-day printing available.

Subject to artwork, stock and production capacity confirmation. Timing is agreed for each job.

What sets the date
A production sequence rather than a press pass. The wrapper is printed with its white underbase, converted and sealed around the tissue block, then packed into cartons. A non-standard pack size or tissue count changes the wrapper and therefore the whole sequence. All of it is quoted inside the standard window.
What a reorder skips
The proved wrapper. Once a design has been printed, converted and seen in the hand — the underbase behind the colour, the artwork clear of the opening flap — a repeat is a new colourway on a sequence that already works.
If the date is tight
Settle the artwork before the order rather than during it, and ask for an express quotation with the pack size, the tissue count and the quantity. We confirm the specification, production schedule and next steps in the quotation.

Because this is a production sequence rather than a press job, the artwork should be settled before the order rather than during it. There is no point in the schedule where a wrapper design can be changed cheaply.

Every answer here is in the page source at full opacity, open or closed. An answer engine has to be able to read it without executing anything.

Questions asked about tissue packets

How many tissues are in a custom pack?

Eight three-ply tissues in a standard pocket pack. Other counts are possible but they change the thickness of the block and therefore the wrapper size, so the standard is what most orders use.

What size is the printed area on a tissue packet?

About 90 × 60 mm flat on each face, plus 3 mm of bleed. Keep 6 mm of safe margin from every edge and stay clear of the opening flap, which is torn open in use.

Why does my colour look pale on a tissue pack?

Because the wrapper film is translucent and the white tissues behind it are not a printing surface. Any colour that must stay strong needs a white underbase printed behind it, supplied as its own vector layer.

Can you print on the tissues themselves?

No. The tissue is a commodity and it is not a printing surface — the branding lives entirely on the wrapper, which is the part people actually look at anyway.

How small can text be on a tissue packet?

About 6 pt. The finished wrapper is soft and slightly creased in the hand, so anything finer disappears into the folds. A phone number or a short line on the reverse works; a paragraph does not.

How long do custom tissue packets take?

Standard turnaround is 7–14 working days. The wrapper is printed, then converted and sealed around the tissue block, then packed — a production sequence rather than a single press pass, and there is no point in it where a wrapper design can be changed cheaply. Where the date is tighter, ask for an express quotation with the pack size and the quantity on it.
