Brief an adhesive graphic from the surface it will meet. Glass, painted walls and floors are different applications, and an attractive image does not establish whether a film will bond, remain readable or remove as expected. Describe the surface condition and intended use before choosing the graphic construction.
This guide helps organise an EZ Print enquiry. It is a planning checklist, not an installation method or an assertion that installation is included.
Record the actual surface
Photograph the area close up and from a position that shows its surroundings. Record the visible dimensions, seams, edges and interruptions. Identify the known surface material and any coating or finish. A description such as smooth wall is less useful than explaining whether it is painted, tiled or another construction.
Note existing damage or unevenness without assuming a graphic will cover and resolve it. If the surface is newly finished, obtain the relevant preparation and readiness information from the responsible contractor or manufacturer. Keep that information with the site reference.
Describe the conditions of use
Explain indoor or outdoor placement, contact with moisture, cleaning, sunlight and repeated handling. For a floor graphic, state that it will be walked on and describe the location. Ask for suitability to be assessed against the complete application rather than inferring a safety property from the word floor.
For window graphics, decide the intended viewing side and whether the image needs to be understood from both directions. Explain whether transparency or privacy is part of the brief. The printed image, glass and placement together affect the experience; a generic mockup cannot settle them.
Make the layout match the site
Measure separate panes or panels individually. Mark handles, joints, switches and other areas the artwork must accommodate. Keep direction arrows, important text and codes away from interruptions until the confirmed layout is available.
For a multi-panel image, identify the overall composition and each panel’s position. Use a labelled diagram so the sequence can be reviewed. Similar-looking rectangular panels can still have different dimensions or orientations.
Discuss preparation and removal explicitly
Avery Dennison’s surface-preparation bulletin treats surface condition as part of adhesive application. Use the instructions for the actual proposed material and surface. This article does not reproduce chemical cleaning procedures or approve a particular film.
Say whether the graphic is intended to be temporary, replaced regularly or retained. Ask how removal expectations should be assessed for the existing finish. Adhesive selection depends on the surfaces involved, as 3M’s bonding overview explains; a generic removable label is not proof of predictable results on every wall.
Separate the deliverables and responsibilities
List printed panels, finishing, any installation requirement and the party responsible for site preparation. State whether access, measurements and removal are separate tasks. Do not assume these are included with the printed graphic unless the final quotation describes them.
Browse signs and surface graphics and request a quote with the photographs, measurements and conditions. Ask for the actual material, site suitability and supplied scope to be confirmed. If an unknown surface or requirement remains, keep it visible in the brief rather than replacing it with a familiar product name.
